Domain Name is your identity or address within the online community using the Internet. It is very important to your business and really counts.

Here are some basics to bear in mind while choosing your Domain Name:

- It is really recommended to register your domain name with your host. It’s nice to keep all your information in one place, because it’s easy to forget URLs, dates of expiration, and passwords, among other things.

- Use dot com only, the .com extension is the mark of a serious business. Do not waste your time with any other kind of extension. Not .net, not .biz, not .org

- First impressions are lasting impressions; establishing credibility should be one of your first priorities when choosing your name.

- Your domain name must exude confidence, reliability, strength, and trustworthiness. Choose words that are straight forward, easy to understand, and represent the kind of business you’re in. Your domain should be memorable, easy to spell, and easy to remember.

- Be creative in choosing your domain name; avoid names that don’t apply to your business or industry, and the names that are very long

- Try to focus on choosing a domain with one or two of your keywords within. Use broad keywords that cover a lot of territory so you can expand your business into new directions that you may not be aware of right now.

- If you found the name which you finally chose to be your domain already taken, you will need to add a new word, different word, or additional word to your domain name. If it still doesn’t work, try to add dashes between the words.

- You should spend some time researching for Available Domain Names, be patient as it takes time. Don’t get discouraged as many are taken; start making a long list of your niche keywords, and domains to choose from.

- Do not use numbers in your domain name, they can be really confusing. And always remember that Short domain names are better than long domain names. Make sure that your domain name is easily readable.
